First look: Trek Domane Classics Edition

Ride on the same bike ridden by the pros! This is one popular marketing lines for almost all well-known manufacturers in the world of cycling, and a slogan that promotes Trek with her new bike Domane Classics Edition. In fact, the official website on the page of this model argues that this "official bike racing Fabian Cancellara!"

But unlike many "Pro Team" replicas, which are often only a similar geometry and less similar specification components, Domane Classics Edition is a real WorldTour bike. This is the bike on which the driver of the team "Trek Factory Racing" Giacomo Nizzolo won the second stage 2 of the Tour de San Luis in this year. Well, except for the size of the frame, it's the same bike, with the same color, and exactly we got the other day for a test review.

The question is whether you really want to ride the exact same bike ridden pros. We compared side-by-side Domane Classics with the regular version of "civil» Domane. If we compare both bikes 60cm frame geometry is very different, the effective top tube length (ett) is more at Classic Editions (58.9sm against 57.9sm), head tube (glass) is shorter (16.6sm versus 22 cm), the angle of the head tube cooler (72 8 degrees 72.1), the wheelbase is longer (104 cm against 103.2cm). It is clear that this new Trek Domane Classics Edition, the bike that is meant for aggressive driving or racing.

In other words, the frame for Domane Classics Edition is specially built for driving on bad roads, using what Trek calls for endurance geometry, where the drooping head of the tube and longer wheelbase will allow a more aggressive position of the rider during the ride.

Common part of two different models Domane platforms, this impressive technology «IsoSpeed», a new frame design from Trek, which, without compromising stiffness, insulates the tube seatpost from the rest of the top tube. It is a proven technology in the professional race, which helped propel Fabian Cancellara in the victory at last year's Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix.

Other highlights of the new features of the frame include increased tire clearance wheels, one-piece dropouts with steel cock for the rear derailleur, which helps stabilize the switching on rough roads. And, of course, he's not have mounts for fenders to protect against dirt, which are sold with more than the usual consumer-oriented cousin, the regular version Trek Domane.

Exactly the same bike as the pros, means and equipment, consisting entirely of top components. In this case, we have a full body kit Shimano Dura-Ace 9070 Di2 electronic shifting to the transmission range of super light Bontrager Race sticks, including a take-away steering wheel and a verb, as well as non-carboxylic Wheels Bontrager Aeolus 3 D5. Our sample bike, size 60cm, weighs 7 kg without pedals.

First impressions:
Great bike. But this is to be expected and is not surprising, as we know the new design Domane got a lot of fans around the world, and the technology «IsoSpeed» have not changed with the version Classics Edition, which is also a big plus. For anyone who did not go for another Domane, we recommend to pay attention to this model from the track.

Frame geometry changed in comparison with the normal version - while the comfort of the ride was the same as the classic edition is designed to go faster. Built with a steeper angle and shorter head tube, classic offers a fast ride with the ability to get a lower landing. Also not surprising is the price tag of the bike, 11520 dollars. After all, no one said that to be a professional it's cheap! :)
